Our Feature Documentary - A Handmade Life
Premiering at the New Hampshire Film Festival 2024, and winning our Assistant Creative Director Ian Scura the prestigious “NH Filmmaker of the Year” Award - A Handmade Life was a labor of love from Concord New Hampshire’s Windwood Productions. Beginning as a partnership with the League of NH Craftsmen to tell ten distinct craft stories, our team worked from 2021-2024 to turn these stories into a feature length documentary. Currently we are showing the documentary at select theatres across New Hampshire beginning with Red River Theatres in Concord, and eventually we hope to place the documentary for distribution through public television to ensure that craft continues to be celebrated throughout New England.
A documentary about ten artists from the greater New Hampshire area each working in different mediums. The film dives into each artists' creative processes and lives, showcasing the value of craft, design, and local community. Their stories demonstrate the importance and viability of making a life as an artist and impart inspiration to continue these crafts and traditions for generations to come.

NH Filmmaker of the Year talks collaboration, creativity
Concord Monitor Excerpt: At the New Hampshire Film Festival earlier this month, Scura won the title of Filmmaker of the Year for his work directing the feature film “A Handmade Life” and the short film “Liquid, Fragile, Perishable.” Both films made their premiere at the festival, which ran from Oct. 17-20 in Portsmouth.
Scura, alongside the team he works with at Windwood Productions, created “A Handmade Life” as an exploration into local creativity. The film follows 10 members of the League of NH Craftsmen and explores their work and their lives.
And The Winners of NH Filmmaking Awards at the 22nd Annual NH Film Festival Are …
IN DEPTH NH EXCERPT: NH Filmmaker of the Year award recipient Ian Scura grew up in Concord, New Hampshire and works at Windwood Productions based in Concord. Says Scura, “Winning NH Filmmaker of the year is so special because while it might seem like an award for an individual, I think it truly celebrates all of the amazing people and filmmakers I work with regularly. The two films I presented this year were both very different in style. I view this award as an honor I share with all of the incredible teams with whom I worked including my brother Ryan, my dear friend Dylan, and the Windwood team.”
